Sultanate of Oman Declares Official Holiday for Prophet’s Birth on September 28th

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) has officially announced that the crescent moon signaling the start of the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal has not been sighted. As a result, Sunday will mark the commencement of Rabi’ Al Awwal in the year 1445, corresponding to September 17, 2023.

This declaration establishes Thursday, September 28, 2023, as the official holiday in commemoration of the Prophet’s birth, which will fall on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1445. This significant occasion holds great cultural and religious importance in the Sultanate.
