Saudi Arabia Executes Military Personnel for Treason Charges
Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that two military personnel, identified as pilot Majed bin Mousa Awad and chief sergeant Yousef bin Reda Hassan Al Azouni, were executed after being accused of committing treason. The men were arrested in 2017 and faced charges related to military treason and failing to preserve the interests of the nation and military honor.
Following a trial where they were provided with judicial guarantees and confessed, they were sentenced to death. This execution comes after the kingdom executed three soldiers in April 2021 on charges of “high treason” and “co-operating with the enemy.”
