Royal Air Force of Oman Safely Returns Residents to Al Halaniyat Islands Post-Evacuation

In a seamless operation, the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) successfully conducted a series of flights to repatriate the residents of Al Halaniyat Islands back to their homes. This mission comes in the wake of a prior evacuation prompted by the Tej tropical condition in Dhofar Governorate.

Air Commodore Malik Yahya Al Nu’omani, Commandant of Salalah Air Base, emphasized that this mission was a crucial step towards reinstating normalcy on the island. It also underscored RAFO’s high level of preparedness in effectively managing adverse weather conditions.

Squadron Leader Sultan Salim Al Wahaibi of the RAFO reported that a total of six sorties were carried out to ensure the safe evacuation of 354 citizens and residents from Al Hallaniyat Islands prior to the onset of the tropical condition.

This operation not only demonstrates RAFO’s dedication to the safety and well-being of the community but also highlights their proficiency in responding swiftly and efficiently to challenging weather scenarios. The successful execution of this mission stands as a testament to RAFO’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the face of adverse conditions.
