In a significant development for Oman’s healthcare infrastructure, the Ministry of Health (MOH) inaugurated the expansive project at Nizwa Hospital on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. The expansion, a testament to the government’s commitment to decentralized, accessible healthcare, encompasses a total of 260 state-of-the-art facilities spread across eight new buildings, covering an impressive area of 45,135 square meters. This extensive endeavor substantially augments the hospital’s capacity, ushering in 555 beds to cater to the healthcare needs of the region.
The inaugural phase, meticulously overseen by the Royal Court Affairs and Royal Facilities, aligns seamlessly with Oman’s ambitious Vision 2040, reflecting a concerted effort to bolster healthcare services and meet the escalating demand for specialized medical care not only within Al Dhakhiliya Governorate but also the neighboring regions.
Under the patronage of H.E. Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, and in the distinguished presence of H.E. Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, the ceremony marked a monumental milestone in the healthcare landscape of Oman.
Anticipating the evolving medical needs of the populace, the second phase of this expansion initiative promises a host of transformative enhancements. This includes a bolstered Emergency Department, featuring a specialized Pediatric Emergency wing, as well as dedicated units for stroke care. The expansion also encompasses critical ancillary services such as an expanded laboratory, state-of-the-art sterilization facilities, a specialized gynecology & obstetrics emergency department, and an advanced blood bank.
The Nizwa Hospital expansion project stands as a testament to Oman’s unwavering commitment to providing world-class healthcare services to its citizens. By fortifying the healthcare infrastructure in Al Dhakhiliya Governorate, the government not only enhances the quality of healthcare but also underscores its dedication to the wellbeing and prosperity of its people.
