Tragedy Strikes: 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Claims 632 Lives in Morocco

​​Morocco’s interior ministry reports that a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 has killed at least 632 people in central Morocco.The US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter occurred in the High Atlas Mountains, 71 km (44 mi) south-west of Marrakesh, at a depth of 18.5 km.  22:11 GMT was the moment the earthquake occurred. 19 minutes later, there was a 4.9 aftershock.  According to the government, fatalities occurred in Marrakech and numerous southern locales.

According to the interior ministry of the nation, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 slammed central Morocco and killed at least 632 people.  According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter occurred in the High Atlas Mountains, 71 kilometers (44 miles) south-west of Marrakech, at a depth of 18.5 kilometers.  The earthquake occurred around 22:11 GMT, or 23:11 local time. 19 minutes later, there was an aftershock measuring 4.9.  According to the government, fatalities occurred in Marrakesh and a number of southern locales.
