Oman’s Ministry of Social Development to Create Lab for Disability Services

The Ministry of Social Development on Tuesday signed an agreement with Oman International Development and Investment Company (Ominvest) for the establishment of a laboratory for developing services and programmes in favour of persons with disabilities. The agreement was signed at the ministry’s premises by Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, and Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Balushi, CEO of Ominvest Group.

The agreement was an integral element of efforts to carry out Oman Vision 2040 and create programs and activities that are in line with its strategic priorities and goals.

Dr. Laila remarked during her speech at the ceremony that the initiative represents the Ministry of Social Development’s current engagement with institutions in the private sector. She went on to say that the creation of such laboratories improves the coordination of efforts with partners in the disability service sector and supplements prior initiatives.

Abdulaziz Al Balushi, CEO of the Ominvest Group, stated that Ominvest’s mission is centered on choosing sustainable ventures that serve Omani society in a way that strengthens the pillars of Oman mission 2040.

In order to make it easier for people with impairments, he said, the Ministry of Social Development has partnered with him to support the initiative. Al Balushi went on to say that this group is an integral component of Omani society and deserves access to services for health, education, and pleasure.
