Oman has been selected to host the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier, a prestigious event scheduled to take place in Muscat from January 15 to 21, 2024. The Oman Hockey Association expressed their enthusiasm for hosting this event after the FIH decided to relocate it from Pakistan. Oman is set to be a focal point in the hockey world in January 2024, just ahead of the FIH Hockey5s World Cup starting on January 24.

The President of the Oman Hockey Association, Dr. Marwan Al Juma, extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth for their wholehearted support. The decision to withdraw the hosting of one of the Men’s FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers from Pakistan was made due to recent developments in the governance situation of the Pakistan Hockey Federation.

The FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers will also be held in China and Spain for women’s and men’s teams, providing a chance for six women’s and six men’s teams to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Teams from Oceania and Europe have already secured their spots at the Paris 2024 hockey Olympic tournaments through various qualifying events. The remaining teams for the Olympics will be determined by events such as the Asian Games, Pan American Games, and the African Hockey Road to Paris tournament. The Paris 2024 hockey Olympic tournaments are scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 9, 2024.
