Kuwait Enforces Quality Mark Certification for Key Building Materials
KUWAIT CITY – The Minister of Commerce and Industry, who also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Industrial General Authority, has issued a new directive in an important step to improve the quality of construction materials in Kuwait. Construction materials must have a Kuwaiti quality stamp to allow them to be used.
The products affected by this decision include “Steel for Concrete Reinforcement – Part Two: Bars with Protrusions”, “Solid Concrete Bricks”, “Technical Specifications for Making Bricks – Part Four: Cellular Concrete Bricks” and “Portland Cement”. Result no. 20/2024, based on the recommendations of the seventy-first meeting of the General Committee for Standardization regarding the approval of technical regulations and Kuwaiti standard specifications and other relevant ministerial decisions.
Also, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has again requested all companies and business license holders to ensure registration of bona fide beneficiaries through the Business Registration Portal. The move is part of ongoing efforts to improve transparency and compliance in the business sector.
