Iran’s New Ambassador Arrives in Riyadh to Strengthen Ties with Saudi Arabia

According to Al-Arabiya Television, Alireza Enayati has arrived in Riyadh to assume the duties of the new Iranian ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency in Tehran, Al-Enezi pledged to make every effort to improve the two nations’ bilateral ties. The wise leadership’s directions “confirm the importance of enhancing relations and stepping up dialogue and meetings between the Kingdom and Iran, and moving them towards broader horizons,” he said.

Additionally, the envoy emphasized that Saudi Arabia and Iran are neighbors and share a number of economic factors, natural resources, and advantages that strengthen the region’s development, prosperity, stability, and security for the benefit of the two nations and their respective populations.

Al-Enezi said that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, unveiled by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, serves as a roadmap that reflects all areas of collaboration and can be expanded upon to further strengthen cooperation between the two nations. This is in keeping with a strategic view, he continued, “that establishes the values of good neighborliness, understanding, constructive and purposeful dialogue, and respect, and enhances mutual trust between the two countries.”

Enayati met with Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi on Monday before leaving for Riyadh. Raisi stated during the event that Saudi Arabia and Iran are two powerful nations in the area and the Islamic world. The president also stressed how the improved ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia will limit the extent of outside involvement in the area.

The two nations agreed to resume official diplomatic ties after a seven-year hiatus in March of this year, with China serving as the middleman in the negotiations. Following a pro-regime protester attack on its embassies in Tehran and Mashhad, Saudi Arabia terminated diplomatic ties with Iran in 2016.
