Saudi Arabia Ranks First Globally for Women’s Empowerment in Artificial Intelligence

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has achieved a significant milestone in the inclusion of women in the technology sector by securing the top spot in the world for empowering women in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Institute for Human-Centred Artificial Intelligence (HAI) at Stanford University released the esteemed ranking in its AI Index Report 2025. Saudi Arabia’s increasing dedication to reducing the gender gap in new technologies is shown by this international recognition, as women are playing a key role in forming the AI landscape.

The survey ranks Saudi Arabia as one of the world leaders in AI advancement, in addition to women’s empowerment. In terms of AI-related job growth, the Kingdom came in third place globally, fourth in terms of the number of top AI models, and ninth in terms of luring AI talent.

Notably, it is one of just seven countries globally to have developed and published advanced AI models, joining the ranks of the United States, China, France, Canada, and South Korea.

What makes Saudi Arabia stand out, however, is its dedicated focus on including women in the AI sector. Saudi Vision 2030, a national policy that promotes diversity, innovation, and the development of human capital, is largely responsible for the country’s significant advances in this field.

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has been a key force in this transformation, playing a significant role in developing digital skills, promoting AI policy, and opening doors for women. One such program, the “Elevate” program, was launched in partnership with Google Cloud and aims to educate more than 25,000 women on artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technology.

These initiatives are enabling Saudi women to assume leadership positions in AI both domestically and internationally. More than just statistical achievement, the results show a significant cultural shift in Saudi Arabia toward a more progressive and inclusive technology industry.
