Al Dakhiliyah Governorate Enhances Quality of Life with Parks and Development Initiatives

The Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah in Oman has undertaken significant efforts to enrich the lives of its residents by prioritizing the creation and enhancement of parks and gardens across its nine wilayats. Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, emphasized the importance of these recreational spaces in fostering family-friendly environments and hosting diverse social and cultural events.

In a recent interview with the Oman News Agency, Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri highlighted several ongoing and upcoming projects aimed at further enhancing the region’s public spaces. These initiatives include the establishment of the Nizwa Park, the Green Mountain Park, and the Al Hamra State Park, all of which are currently in various stages of development.

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate is home to 35 parks and gardens spread across its wilayats, covering an extensive total area of over 1,353,807 square meters. These green spaces serve as vital recreational hubs for communities, with notable parks in the Wilayats of Nizwa, Bahla, Adam, Samail, Manah, Al Hamra, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Izki, and Bidbid.

Among these, Adam Public Park, unveiled earlier this year, stands as one of the largest, sprawling over 250,000 square meters. The Khamila Public Park in the Wilayat of Bahla follows closely, covering 150,000 square meters, while the Souq Roundabout Park in the Wilayat of Manah, though smaller at 541 square meters, provides an important community space.

Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri commended the invaluable contributions of the private sector in supporting these developmental ventures. Projects like the Khamila Public Park, located in the Wilayat of Bahla, received funding from the Petroleum Development Oman, underscoring the collaborative efforts to enhance public spaces.

Looking ahead, the Governor outlined a series of projects slated for completion by 2025, with an estimated cost exceeding OMR 6 million. These projects, ranging from the Al Dakhiliyah Boulevard to Nizwa Park and the entrance to Nizwa State, demonstrate the region’s commitment to continued growth and community well-being.

Additionally, a comprehensive plan to upgrade internal roads within the Governorate is underway, with the goal of completing approximately 600 kilometers of roadways by the end of 2025. This initiative will not only facilitate improved connectivity but also stimulate economic activity and attract investors.

The tireless efforts of the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reflect a resolute commitment to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, fostering a vibrant and thriving community for generations to come.
