Abu Dhabi’s New Terminal A: What You Need to Know

Abu Dhabi International Airport is poised to inaugurate its colossal Terminal A on November 1, marking a significant leap in air travel infrastructure. Triple the size of its predecessor, the terminal will host 28 airlines, connecting passengers to an extensive network of 117 global destinations. The transition will span from November 1 to 14, during which all terminals (A, 1, 2, and 3) will operate in tandem. Subsequently, starting November 15, all airlines will exclusively operate from Terminal A.

For travelers flying to or from Abu Dhabi in the initial two weeks of November, it is crucial to consult the latest flight information available on the Abu Dhabi International Airport website or through the respective airline to confirm their designated terminal. Notably, November 1 will mark the commencement of operations for Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and 15 other international carriers. Etihad Airways will join the roster on November 9, operating 16 daily flights, followed by the full operationalization of all 28 airlines, including Etihad and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, from Terminal A on November 14.

Navigating to the new terminal is straightforward, with clearly marked routes from Abu Dhabi city center, the E10 highway, 30th Street, Al Ain, and Dubai. Passengers can expect a seamless journey from pre-travel procedures to the boarding gate, facilitated by state-of-the-art technologies and integrated biometric systems. Terminal A stands as the first in the world to encompass all nine biometric airport touchpoints. In its initial phase, biometric solutions will be implemented in vital areas like self-service bag drops, immigration eGates, and boarding gates. The terminal will utilize facial recognition technology to enhance passenger screening efficiency, effectively reducing wait times.

To facilitate passenger mobility between terminals, complimentary shuttle buses will be readily available. The inauguration of Terminal A represents a pivotal milestone in Abu Dhabi’s commitment to advancing air travel, setting a new standard for convenience, efficiency, and technological innovation in aviation infrastructure.
