UAE Private Sector Workers to Have Paid Holidays on December 2 and 3 for National Day Celebration
Private sector workers in the UAE will enjoy paid holidays on December 2 and 3 to celebrate National Day. These holidays are in honor of UAE Union Day, which commemorates the unification of the Emirates in 1971. However, as the dates fall on a Saturday and Sunday, it won’t result in an extended break.
In 2022, both private and public sector employees had an additional day off on December 1 for Commemoration Day, providing a three-day break. This year, December 1 is a regular working day. The National Day holidays will be observed on December 2 and 3.
To compensate for a shorter break in December, residents in the UAE will enjoy a three-day break to end 2023 and start 2024. January 1, 2024, falls on a Monday, making it a paid holiday. Combined with the weekend, this allows for a three-day break.
The National Day celebration on December 2 marks the country’s unity and turns 52 years old. Expo City Dubai will host the official Union Day show, showcasing the UAE’s sustainability journey.
