Abu Dhabi [UAE], January 8: Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received in Abu Dhabi Gideon Saar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel.

Sheikh Abdullah welcomed Gideon Sa’ar and spoke about the two nations’ bilateral ties.

The growing humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip was one of the latest regional issues that were discussed during the discussion. A durable ceasefire was another topic of discussion, along with regional and global initiatives.

In order to achieve stability in the region, achieve sustainable security, and put an end to the growing violence, Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the critical importance of advancing a serious political agenda to resume negotiations in order to achieve a comprehensive peace based on a two-State solution.

Stressing the need for concerted efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire and prevent the escalation of conflicts in the region, he noted that the priority is to make every effort to end tension and violence, protect civilian lives, and provide urgent humanitarian assistance.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the need for coordinated international efforts to put a stop to extremism, tension, and rising bloodshed in the Middle East while following a road toward peace, prosperity, and development for the benefit of its people. He reaffirmed the UAE’s backing for the mediation efforts of the US, Qatar, and Egypt to mediate a prisoner swap deal that would result in the release of hostages, a durable truce, and the secure and ongoing provision of sufficient humanitarian aid to civilians. The Gaza Strip

He reaffirmed the UAE’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, and highlighted the country’s long-standing solidarity with the Palestinians over the decades.

He noted that the UAE will spare no effort in assisting its Palestinian brothers and will continue to launch humanitarian efforts in support of them.

Sheikh Abdullah also called for intensifying international efforts to combat extremism, hatred and racism, while promoting the values ​​of tolerance, coexistence and human fraternity among nations.

The meeting was attended by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of State for Political Affairs; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister of Economy and Trade Affairs; and Mohamed Mahmoud Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Israel.
