UAE Announces Eid Al Fitr Holidays for Private Sector Employees
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has officially declared a paid holiday for private sector employees across the UAE on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr. The holiday will begin on Sunday, March 30, and last until Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Holiday Duration Dependent on Moon Sighting
The exact duration of the break will be determined by the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon. If Ramadan completes 29 days, the Eid holidays will be observed from March 30 to April 1, resulting in a four-day break (Saturday to Tuesday).
However, if Ramadan extends to 30 days, the holiday will be extended to Wednesday, April 2, giving employees a five-day weekend (Saturday to Wednesday). The UAE’s Moon-sighting committee will observe the crescent moon on March 29, and the official decision will be announced accordingly.
Expected Five-Day Break Based on Astronomical Calculations
According to the Dubai Astronomy Group, Ramadan is expected to last 30 days, making Eid Al Fitr fall on March 31. If this prediction holds true, employees in the public and private sectors will enjoy an extended five-day holiday.
Public and Private Sectors’ Unified Holiday Policy
Because of a uniform leave policy that is in place nationwide, employees in the public and private sectors in the United Arab Emirates enjoy equal holiday benefits. This guarantees that on national and religious holidays, all employees receive the same amount of time off.
Increased Travel and Expenses Before the Eid Holiday
Residents of the UAE have already started planning their travel and leisure activities with less than two weeks till the break. Travel businesses note that travelers are choosing immersive travel experiences over conventional getaways, and that family-friendly and experience-based vacations are becoming increasingly popular.
Due to the increased demand, hotel rates have climbed by 20–30% and flight prices on popular routes have increased by 15-20%. These days, a lot of tourists choose all-inclusive vacation packages as an economical method of handling growing travel costs.
UAE residents are anticipated to take a well-earned vacation, whether it be through leisure pursuits, travel, or spending time with loved ones, since a prolonged break is anticipated.
