Abu Dhabi to Launch First Vertical Strawberry Farm in Winter

This winter, a 7,500 square meter indoor vertical strawberry farm will be developed in Abu Dhabi, the first of its kind in the industry. The aim of the project is to improve precision agriculture and increase local food production in the United Arab Emirates.

Strategic partnership and investment

Mawarith, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based Alfa-Dhabi Holdings, recently partnered with California-based agricultural company Blenry. The collaboration will establish the world’s first vertical strawberry farm outside of North America. The move is the first of five households preparing for the next five years to block investment of a 136 million chance.

Technological progress and focus

Artificial intelligence, custom hardware, LED lighting, and proprietary software are some of the cutting-edge technologies used by Fam. This innovation is developed to adapt to growing conditions and improve taste and quality. Initially, Fam will focus entirely on strawberry, with plans to advertise in future stages based on market needs.

Economic growth and entrepreneurship

The project is expected to create around 100 jobs per family and certificated persons will be added through the distribution-distribution cycle as the GCCius fame spreads across the chain. It makes a significant contribution to local industry and development.

Additionally, a reliable local record

In comparison to conventional farming techniques, vertical farming consumes up to 90% less water and provides a number of tangible benefits. FAM supports official food safety and sanitation, lowers shipping expenses, and produces high-quality strawberries locally all year long. The recently introduced Agrifood Growth and Water Abundance (EGWA) cluster from 2051 is also supported by the nation’s national food security policy.

A long-term plan

The Abu Dhabi project is a component of a larger plan to increase food security in the GCC, not only a stand-alone endeavour. With an emphasis on the application of contemporary agriculture technologies, localised workers receive fresh and refined food items.
