White House Pet Dog Removed After Biting Incidents

In a recent development, US President Joe Biden’s pet dog, a two-year-old German Shepherd named “Commander,” has been relocated from the White House due to a series of biting incidents involving White House and Secret Service staff members.

Reports indicate that Commander had reportedly bitten 11 Secret Service agents, though other sources suggest the number may be higher. The safety of White House personnel remains a top priority for President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for Jill Biden, emphasized the President and First Lady’s concern for the well-being of those who work at and protect the White House. She expressed gratitude for the patience and support extended by the US Secret Service and all involved parties. Alexander further noted that “Commander is not presently on the White House campus while next steps are evaluated,” but did not provide specific details regarding the dog’s current location.

The decision to remove Commander comes after a recent incident in which the White House’s head groundskeeper engaged with the dog. It was clarified that the interaction resulted in a minor nip, with no skin broken, during playtime. The incident was captured in a photograph taken by a tourist.

Notably, this is the second pet belonging to the Bidens that has been relocated from the White House due to behavioral issues. The German Shepherd Major was previously sent to live with family friends in Delaware, a decision also attributed to the demanding and potentially stressful environment of the White House.

Commander was last seen at the White House on September 30, and the administration is actively considering the best course of action regarding the dog’s future residence.
