The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, the first traditional Hindu temple in the UAE, has been honoured with the prestigious title of Best Cultural Project in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region for the year 2024. In addition to this significant recognition, the temple also received the UAE’s Best Cultural Project award at the MEED Project Awards, a major event celebrating exciting and impactful projects from across the region.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir was honored for its architectural and cultural significance by the MEED Project Awards, which received nominations from more than 40 different industries. The awards recognize projects that demonstrate excellence in invention, design, and contribution to their respective professions. The temple was noteworthy for its unique blend of modern engineering and traditional architecture.

The head of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, Pujya Brahmavihari Swami, discussed the significance of the honor, saying, “These awards highlight not only the technical and architectural excellence of the BAPS Hindu Mandir but also the spirit of unity and harmony that inspired its creation.” In addition, Swami Brahmavihari praised President Sheikh Mohamed and Mahant Swami Maharaj, who has been a champion of inclusivity, love, and harmony in the UAE and beyond, saying that their assistance enabled the temple’s construction.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir stands as an iconic symbol of the region’s growing cultural diversity. A worldwide spiritual and humanitarian organization called the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) constructed the temple, which is situated in Abu Mreikhah, close to Al Rahba. In a momentous move for the temple and the United Arab Emirates, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the temple on February 14.
