Mansoor bin Mohammed Attends Historic ‘Road to Champions in Dubai’ MMA Tournament

On January 26, Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, attended the much-anticipated ‘Road to Champions in Dubai’ competition at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. The Professional Fighters League (PFL) arranged the event in partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council.

Mansoor bin Mohammed, accompanied by Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, and Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, witnessed thrilling bouts, including Emirati fighter Hadi Omar Al-Hussaini’s victory over Filipino Roel Banales in a flyweight match.

This tournament is a historic event, the first of its kind in the Middle East. It was held in Dubai, the final event of the Global MMA Championship Series, and solidified the city’s position as a world-class destination for top-level mixed martial arts fighters. Dubai’s strategic position strengthens its position as a prominent global sports hub, and the success of this event illustrates the city’s commitment to sponsoring international contests in a range of sports.

The event featured 11 matches and 22 fighters from 13 nations, including the UAE, Russia, Ireland, the USA, Brazil, England, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and the Philippines. Some of the memorable bouts featured furious clashes between Nathan Kelly of Ireland and Russia’s Khasan Magomedov, Kenny Mokhwana of Ireland and England’s Ibrahim Ibrahimov, and Brazilian Clevers Fernandes versus Russian Rinat Khavalov. There were also important matchups between fighters from Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Algeria, demonstrating the tournament’s global appeal.

The event solidified Dubai’s status as a major player in the world of mixed martial arts, as the PFL brought together an elite group of MMA champions and rising stars. The competition is expected to continue for years to come, cementing Dubai’s position as a global hub for the rapidly growing sport of mixed martial arts.
