India Confirms Burial of Two Executed Nationals in UAE
New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday confirmed that the burial of two Indian nationals—Shahzadi Khan and Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu—took place earlier in the day in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with their family members present for the final rites.
Shahzadi Khan’s Burial in Abu Dhabi
Shahzadi Khan, a 33-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, was executed on February 15 in Abu Dhabi following her conviction in the tragic death of a four-month-old child under her care. The UAE authorities officially informed the Indian Embassy about her execution on February 28.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that all necessary consular and legal assistance has been provided to his family and that they have been assured of their participation in the funeral rites.
The funeral was held in accordance with UAE regulations, with authorized family representatives paying their last respects before his body was laid to rest. They attended the funeral prayers at a mosque and the burial at the Baniyas cemetery. Indian embassy officials assisted the family throughout the process and were present during the funeral.
Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu Laid to Rest
Muhammed Rinash Arangilottu, a native of Kerala, was executed on February 28 after being convicted of murdering an Emirati national. His burial was also conducted on Thursday, with his family present to bid him farewell. The XP division of the MEA confirmed that his loved ones participated in the funeral prayers before his remains were interred.
India’s Efforts and Condolences
The MEA reiterated that it had extended legal assistance and submitted mercy petitions on behalf of both individuals. They were executed as a result of the UAE’s top court upholding their sentences. Throughout the process, the Indian Embassy maintained constant communication with the families, offering assistance and making sure all required preparations were completed.
The government offered its condolences and reaffirmed its dedication to supporting Indian citizens overseas and promoting legal action in these situations.
