Successful Rescue of Trapped Workers in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara Tunnel After 16 Days

After a relentless 16-day rescue operation, all 41 workers trapped in Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel were successfully evacuated. The workers were greeted with cheers and sweets from locals as they emerged from the tunnel. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister of State General (Retd) VK Singh met with the rescued workers, and initial health checkups were conducted in a temporary medical camp. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed relief and gratitude for the well-coordinated efforts of multiple agencies, making it one of the most significant recent rescue operations. He thanked all involved, including international rescue experts, administrative officers, and the Uttarakhand government.
The breakthrough occurred at 7:05 pm, with CM Dhami praising the morale and courage of the rescue personnel. The operation faced numerous challenges, and Gadkari acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the rescue teams, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for constant monitoring and guidance. CM Dhami and Minister VK Singh were also commended for their on-site involvement. The Silkyara tunnel collapse occurred on November 12, trapping the workers inside the under-construction structure.
