Leaders discuss climate action, renewable energy, and collaboration in Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Mohamed and World Leaders Unite for Climate Action at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week
President Sheikh Mohamed and his counterpart Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan urged for coordinated international action to address the threat posed by climate change at high-level discussions in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The two presidents discussed ways to improve collaboration in the areas of renewable energy and the environment during the talks at Qasr Al Shati in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
In order to take part in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which takes place from Sunday to Saturday, January 18, Mr. Aliyev is in the United Arab Emirates on a work visit.
Sheikh Mohamed stressed the strong partnerships already in place between countries to protect the planet, including joint projects in wind and solar energy.
The UAE and Azerbaijan were the hosts of Cop28 and Cop29, respectively, which highlighted their commitment to shaping a greener future.
Sheikh Mohamed commended Azerbaijan for hosting Cop29 in the capital Baku in November, and spoke of the significant outcomes achieved during the event.
The leaders reviewed the central themes of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week as the world strives to keep global temperature rises in check. The two also pledged to deepen bilateral relations in key areas, including the economy, investment and development.
Mr. Aliyev reiterated his nation’s commitment to deepening its relationship with the United Arab Emirates and thanked Sheikh Mohamed for inviting him to take part in the crucial climate negotiations in Abu Dhabi.
Several ministers and high-ranking officials attended the meeting, including Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; and Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser.
Later, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the president of Kazakhstan, who is in the United Arab Emirates for Sustainability Week, met with Sheikh Mohammed.
During their meeting at Qasr Al Shati, the two leaders talked about their bilateral relationship and looked at measures to improve collaboration.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the president of Uzbekistan, arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Monday to take part in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, welcomed him to Abu Dhabi.
