New Role Aims to Strengthen Community Support and Social Welfare Initiatives in Sharjah

Sultan of Sharjah Appoints Ahmed Al Meel as Chairman of Social Services Department

October 31: Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, appointed Ahmed Ibrahim Hassan Al Meel as the Chairman of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD) through an Emiri Decree. Al Meel, who previously served as the Director of SSSD, will now hold the title of “Chairman of Department” within Sharjah’s Special Jobs System.

Greater Involvement in Social Services

This appointment is in line with the Ruler’s goal of increasing the Social Services Department’s clout and efficiency across Sharjah. Al Meel will also be a member of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) in his new position, which will help the emirate’s social welfare programs take a more coordinated approach.

Pay Attention to Community Development

Under Al Meel’s direction, Sharjah is dedicated to enhancing social services and community support, as the Decree highlights. Given his wealth of departmental expertise, he is expected to promote policies that support the social welfare and community participation goals of the emirate.

Promoting Social Welfare Programs

Al Meel’s elevation as Chairman coincides with Sharjah’s efforts to broaden its social service portfolio and guarantee that the most disadvantaged groups receive the best possible care and assistance. Al Meel’s position on the SEC will help the emirate achieve its objectives of effective programs and unified social policies.
