Schools in Dubai Shift to Online Learning Amid Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms

As heavy rains and thunderstorms swept across all seven Emirates in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), several schools in Dubai took precautionary measures by switching to online learning. The adverse weather conditions, including lightning, thunder, and high-speed winds, prompted school heads to send emails to parents, informing them about the temporary shift to distance learning. The decision aimed to ensure the safety of students and staff while navigating the challenging weather conditions. Parents, some of whom had experienced difficulties during previous rainy spells, expressed relief at the timely switch to online classes, allowing students to stay home in the inclement weather. Authorities in certain Emirates had directed schools to adopt a distance learning approach for the day in anticipation of the adverse weather. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported heavy downpour and issued code orange and yellow alerts, indicating hazardous weather conditions across the UAE.
