ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon Anticipates 23,000 Runners with International Stars Headlining the Event

The fifth edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is set to witness the participation of top international runners, adding to the event’s global significance. Approximately 23,000 runners are expected to take part in various race categories, including the 42.195-km marathon, marathon relay, 10km, 5km, and 2.5km races scheduled for December 16.

Among the notable names in the men’s race are Uganda’s Andrew Kwemoi, the 2023 Milano Marathon winner, and Kenya’s Kiptum Barnabas, who secured first place in the 2019 Hong Kong Marathon and the Buenos Aires Marathon in 2017. The women’s race will feature Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba, the 10km Olympic Champion and 2017 Chicago Marathon winner, along with Maurine Chepkemoi from Kenya, the 2022 Enschede Marathon winner.

The presence of these world-class runners highlights the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon’s growing recognition on the international stage. Suhail Al Arifi, the executive director of the events sector at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized the event’s success in gaining global prominence in long-distance running.

The marathon, open to the entire community, offers various distances suitable for participants of different fitness levels, including families and children. The event includes the marathon, marathon relay (teams of 2), 10km, 5km, and 2.5km races. Registration is free for people of determination and Paralympics participants.

The race routes will commence at different locations near the ADNOC headquarters on Corniche Road and conclude at the ADNOC Campus, near Bainuna Public Park. The Marathon Village, located at ADNOC headquarters, will be open from December 12 to 16, providing an immersive experience with entertainment and dining options.

All registered runners will receive an exclusive Nike technical race t-shirt made from sustainable materials. Participants can customize their shirts by adding their names during the registration process. The Marathon Village will also offer race pack collection for participants who register after November 30, between December 12 and 15.

The ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon aims to celebrate physical fitness and invites individuals from diverse backgrounds to join the sports day on the streets of Abu Dhabi, the global capital of sports.
