Saudi Arabia Unveils Ambitious Plans for World’s Tallest and Fastest Rollercoaster

In a bold leap into the realm of theme park extravagance, Saudi Arabia is set to introduce the world’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster at Six Flags Qiddiya. Dubbed “Falcon’s Flight,” the rollercoaster, also known as the world’s first “Exa Coaster,” is slated to open next year, promising an exhilarating top speed of 156 mph and a breathtaking 640-foot drop over a desert cliff. This mega-attraction is poised to break several records, surpassing the current height record held by Kingda Ka and outpacing the speed of the renowned Formula Rossa at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
Falcon’s Flight, designed by Intamin and presented during the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo, is not merely about height and speed; it aspires to redefine rollercoaster experiences. With a length of 2.64 miles, it claims the title of the longest rollercoaster, weaving over a Formula 1 race track and surpassing the current world record holder, Steel Dragon 2000. The rollercoaster’s design also addresses safety concerns, with each row featuring its own windshield, eliminating the need for riders to wear goggles.
Beyond the adrenaline-pumping thrill of Falcon’s Flight, this grand endeavor aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision for cultural and entertainment development. The rollercoaster is part of the Qiddiya project, which aims to create a globally significant entertainment destination. Philippe Gas, CEO of Qiddiya, stated that Falcon’s Flight is set to dominate the skyline, offering a ride that traverses not only the theme park but also the surrounding landscape, making it a landmark experience for thrill-seekers.
This rollercoaster venture is not an isolated effort within Saudi Arabia’s ambitious plans. The nation is actively working on projects such as the Red Sea Project, transforming islands into luxury tourism destinations, and Trojena, a future winter sports resort in the desert. The rollercoaster, with its record-breaking features, represents a pivotal step in Saudi Arabia’s mission to position itself as a hub for entertainment, tourism, and innovation, inviting global attention and redefining the boundaries of theme park experiences.
