Rafah Border Crossing Temporarily Reopens for Evacuation Amid Gaza Conflict
The Rafah border crossing, which is not controlled by Israel, was temporarily reopened to facilitate the evacuation of foreign nationals and wounded Palestinians from Gaza into Egypt. Thousands of civilians crossed the border to seek safety amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. As of Tuesday, a total of 114 foreign nationals have been evacuated from Gaza to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing. Additionally, four wounded Palestinians arrived in Egypt for treatment through the crossing. This brings the total number of severely injured Palestinians transferred to Egypt for medical treatment to 105. Another 30 wounded patients are expected to arrive in Egypt on Tuesday. The crossing had been temporarily closed over the weekend due to an Israeli airstrike on a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance.
