Legal Victory: Nurses Cleared of Charges in Patient’s Brain Haemorrhage Death

Two Asian nurses have been acquitted of charges related to the death of an Asian patient who suffered a brain hemorrhage. The incident occurred 48 hours before the patient arrived at the Emergency Room of Salmaniya Medical Complex.

The nurses were initially referred to the court on charges of inadvertently compromising the safety of others and causing the victim’s death due to alleged violations of professional standards.

Upon arriving at the ER in a weakened state with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea, the victim received temporary treatment and was prepared for referral to the Internal Medicine department.

The legal representative of the first defendant explained that she was present when the patient experienced a seizure and promptly transferred her to the Internal Medicine department for X-rays. Once the patient fainted, the defendant’s involvement concluded, and the medical staff took over in providing care.

The defense argued that the necessary elements for a conviction were lacking, as their client had followed the established procedures of her profession and there was no evidence linking her actions to the patient’s fall. Consequently, the court decided to acquit the two nurses of the charges brought against them.
