Bahrain Unveils $85 Million Power and Water Stations to Enhance Infrastructure

New facilities at Al Hid Housing Project aim to meet growing demand for essential services in Hidd and surrounding areas

Bahrain Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa yesterday inaugurated a new 220 kV electricity transmission station and water supply station at the Al Hid Housing Project.

According to a report by Bahrain news agency BNA, the $85 million stations are a part of the government’s attempts to improve infrastructure and accommodate the nation’s growing demand for basic services.

40,000 customers in Hidd and the neighboring areas are anticipated to receive power from the 360 MVA electrical plant, which transmits electricity from the main grid to nearby 66 KV substations.

The water distribution station is outfitted with a multitude of monitoring and control devices and can hold 2.34 million gallons in storage.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Council of Representatives Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, several high-ranking officials including ministers and representatives of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) and CEO Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al Marshad. Fund.

Al Marshad highlighted the support of funding development projects in Bahrain.

The Deputy Prime Minister praised the efforts of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) headed by Kamal Bin Ahmed Mohammed for providing high quality services and ensuring readiness of infrastructure in housing projects. He also acknowledged SFD’s contribution to infrastructure development projects in Bahrain under the Gulf Development Programme.
