India Dominates Asia Cup Final with a Stunning Victory

India clinched their eighth Asia Cup title in spectacular fashion, with a commanding 10-wicket victory over hosts Sri Lanka in the final at the R. Premadasa Stadium. The match saw a fiery spell from Mohammed Siraj, who took six wickets, including an extraordinary four in a single over, leading to Sri Lanka being bundled out for a mere 50 runs.

Indian cricket team opening batsmen, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, wasted no time in the chase, finishing the game in just 6.1 overs. This made it the third-shortest full-length ODI in history, lasting only 129 legal deliveries.

Siraj’s sensational performance with the ball left Sri Lanka struggling, as he decimated their batting lineup within the first six overs. He was supported by Jasprit Bumrah, who claimed a wicket in the third ball of the match.

Siraj’s stunning four-wicket over and subsequent dismissal of Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka, brought Sri Lanka to a devastating 12/6 in just 5.4 overs. Siraj ultimately achieved record figures of 6/21, the best by any bowler in an ODI against Sri Lanka.

Hardik Pandya contributed three wickets, swiftly ending the Sri Lankan innings with two consecutive wickets in the 16th over.

Sri Lanka’s total of 50 runs marked their second-lowest score ever in ODIs. Despite winning the toss and opting to bat first, the match experienced a 40-minute delay due to rain.
