Historic Agreement: SAUDIA to Operate First Flights at Red Sea International Airport
Red Sea Global (RSG), the developer of Amaala, has signed a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) and daa International, the operator of Red Sea International (RSI) airport.
This landmark agreement marks SAUDIA as the inaugural airline to operate in and out of RSI. The airport, slated to open this year, will initially serve domestic flights between Riyadh and later Jeddah. It is set to expand its operations to handle international flights in 2024.
John Pagano, the CEO of Red Sea Global, expressed his pride in this development, emphasizing the significance of SAUDIA, the kingdom’s flag carrier, being the first airline to operate from the destination.
Furthermore, the MoU establishes a framework for collaborative research on the utilization of lower-carbon aviation and sustainable aviation fuel at Red Sea International Airport. The partnership also explores the potential of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jets to reduce emissions associated with air travel to The Red Sea.
This strategic collaboration underscores a commitment to sustainable and environmentally conscious aviation practices, aligning with the broader vision for a greener future in the region.
