Flydubai’s Summer Success: Over Four Million Passengers in 2023
Flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, has reported a remarkable summer season, flying over four million passengers between June and mid-September 2023. This marks a significant 30% increase compared to the same period last year.
The airline operated more than 32,000 flights across its growing network of 120 destinations spanning 52 countries. Corfu in Greece and Olbia in Sardinia were the latest additions to flydubai’s seasonal summer routes, providing travelers with even more choices for popular holiday destinations this year.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, the CEO of flydubai, stated: “We’re continuing to facilitate trade and tourism by offering convenient travel options to both new and underserved markets. This has enabled over four million passengers to travel this summer via Dubai’s aviation hub.” He also noted the substantial increase in passenger numbers to destinations like Trabzon and Bodrum, emphasizing the potential for even higher figures if aircraft deliveries had been on schedule.
Flydubai presently operates a fleet of 78 Boeing 737s to serve its expanding network. However, the airline anticipates further delays in scheduled aircraft deliveries this year. To address this, flydubai has signed an agreement to lease four Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft between October 17, 2023, and April 16, 2024. This strategic move will bolster the airline’s capacity across its network during anticipated busy travel periods.
The airline has also recently announced the launch of operations to three new destinations. Daily service to Cairo is set to commence on October 28, followed by Poznan in Poland on October 29, and Mombasa joining the network from January 17, 2024.
