Dubai Airshow Witnesses Signing of 206 Aircraft Orders on Day One

The Dubai Airshow’s opening day marked a flurry of activity in the aviation sector, with a total of 206 commercial aircraft orders confirmed. Additionally, tentative deals for purchase options for 45 more aircraft were also part of the day’s proceedings. Key players Emirates Airline and flydubai dominated the order book, contributing over 60% of the confirmed orders. Emirates secured orders for 95 aircraft, while flydubai confirmed orders for 30.
Among the significant announcements was a deal between flydubai and Boeing for the purchase of 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, representing a commitment valued at up to $11 billion. Sun Express, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, joined the action with an order for 45 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, accompanied by options and purchase rights for an additional 45 of the same type.
Royal Jordanian Airlines also made its presence felt by placing a repeated order for a 787 Dreamliner and confirming an order for two 787-9 aircraft from Boeing. Furthermore, Boeing and Royal Jordanian sealed deals for the purchase of four additional 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
