COP28 Green Zone: A Guide to Free Workshops and Events Shaping Our Planet’s Future
COP28, a pivotal conference on climate change, not only features crucial discussions but also offers over 100 free events and workshops at the COP28 Green Zone, open to the public. The Green Zone includes themed areas focusing on Energy Transition, Technology and Innovation, and Youth, providing an opportunity for everyone to actively contribute to shaping the future of our planet.
Key Attractions:
1. Expo City Farm: Located at Al Forsan Park, this farm showcases regenerative agriculture with over 10 types of crops. Visitors can experience workshops on hydroponic food production, sustainable farming, and enjoy farm-to-table dining experiences. Community workshops and cooking classes by sustainability-focused chefs are also part of the agenda.
2. Alya in Terraland Musical: Targeted at a younger audience, this original musical at Terra Auditorium uses hip-hop and R&B music to convey environmental awareness. The story revolves around Alya, a character from the UAE, meeting creatures that highlight environmental issues. The musical encourages the audience to participate in climate action.
3. Pledge for People and Planet: Visitors to Terra Pavilion are invited to take a pledge for a better future by joining the global movement to reduce carbon emissions. This marks the first time the pledge will be available in Arabic.
4. Women’s Pavilion – Land and Sea Stories: Starting from December 3, this pavilion features exhibitions in photography, craft, video, and art installations urging action for a more just and sustainable future with a focus on women and girls.
5. Marine Photography Exhibition: Prince Hussain Aga Khan’s exhibition, “Fragile Beauty,” celebrates the magic of the ocean and emphasizes the need to protect marine species.
6. Reflections on Climate Change Exhibition: This exhibition provides insights into the history and goals of COPs and introduces various initiatives for public involvement.
