CityDrinks Launches Alcohol Delivery in Abu Dhabi Following Legalization
CityDrinks, an alcohol delivery app, has officially launched its operations in Abu Dhabi after completing the legalization process. The founder and owner, Dominique Szymura, announced that the company secured two essential licenses, allowing it to maintain control of its operations and offer a diverse selection of alcoholic beverages. Szymura praised the efficiency and support from the Abu Dhabi government, especially the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), throughout the licensing process.
CityDrinks’ import and distribution license now enables the app to provide a wide range of alcohol options, breaking free from restrictive agreements. Customers using the app must undergo ID and UAE Pass verification, with legal alcohol purchases in Abu Dhabi requiring only proof of age (over 21 years). The app incorporates a one-time, two-minute ID verification for purchase completion. Delivery executives will perform ID checks upon delivery to comply with regulations and ensure customer security through data encryption.
CityDrinks will offer Express Delivery services to residents of Yas Island and Khalifa City areas, while Downtown Abu Dhabi residents can avail of the Standard Delivery option, with a full range of products delivered within a 2-hour window. The app’s full operation is expected to be in place by mid-December.
Regarding the decision to launch in Abu Dhabi before Dubai, Szymura emphasized the strategic nature of the choice, citing Abu Dhabi’s growing population and receptive government as factors conducive to innovation and growth. While plans for expansion to other emirates are in progress, the immediate focus is on solidifying CityDrinks’ presence and operations in Abu Dhabi, offering customers a curated selection of drinks at their fingertips.
