Annual Dubai Ride to Temporarily Close Sheikh Zayed Road for Cyclists

On Sunday, November 12, Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, from Trade Centre roundabout to Safa Park interchange (2nd interchange), will be closed to vehicular traffic as cyclists take over the iconic highway for the annual Dubai Ride cycling event. The closure will extend to Lower Financial Centre Street and Trade Centre Street, impacting both directions.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recommended alternative routes for motorists during the event, including Al Hadiqa Street, Al Wasl Street, Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Al Asayel Street, 2nd Zaa’beel Street, 2nd December Street, and Al Mustaqbal Street.

Dubai Ride is a prominent event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), initiated in 2017 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The cycling event features two routes suitable for riders of all skill levels, providing the opportunity to cycle past Dubai’s iconic landmarks such as the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal, Burj Khalifa, and other attractions in Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai.

Last year’s edition of Dubai Ride witnessed the participation of 34,897 cyclists. The closure of Sheikh Zayed Road is expected to last for several hours, with the event scheduled from 6:15 am to 8:15 am. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative routes during the specified time frame.
