Air India Set to Expand International Routes with New Destinations
Tata Group-owned Air India is gearing up for an expansion of its international flight network this winter, with plans to add Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, Boston, and Los Angeles to its roster of approximately 40 international destinations. The airline, currently on a consistent schedule of aircraft deliveries, is set to introduce additional flight frequencies to Australia and Europe.
According to insider sources, the launches for Phuket and Ho Chi Minh City are anticipated in December, while services to Boston and Los Angeles are likely to commence in early 2024. The introduction of new international routes will coincide with the arrival of new and leased aircraft.
The flights to Phuket and Ho Chi Minh City will be operated using narrow-body aircraft, while the services to Boston and Los Angeles will utilize leased Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s. The airline is set to receive over 30 wide-body and narrow-body aircraft by March 2024, including A350s, B777s, and A320neos. This delivery includes five Boeing 777s, six Airbus A350s, and 20 A320 aircraft.
With a focus on enhancing connectivity, Air India also plans to increase flight frequencies to Australia, specifically on routes such as Delhi-Sydney and Mumbai-Melbourne. The expansion aligns with the airline’s strategy to strengthen its presence in key international markets.
