The Integrated Transport Centre Launches Automated Rapid Transit – ART Project
Abu Dhabi, a city known for innovation and progress, is set to revolutionize its public transportation system with the introduction of state-of-the-art electric tram-style buses. These high-capacity electric vehicles will traverse Abu Dhabi, connecting 25 stations along a 27-kilometer route.
Each of these electric “buses” is designed to accommodate up to 200 passengers, signifying a significant enhancement to the emirate’s transportation capabilities. The project, known as the Automated Rapid Transit – ART, marks a new era of technological advancement in the transport sector.
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) under the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) officially announced the launch of the pilot phase of the ART project on Abu Dhabi Island. This initial phase encompasses the operation of 25 stations, covering an extensive route of approximately 27 kilometers.
The service operates during the weekends, from Friday to Sunday, connecting Al Reem Mall to Marina Mall. The route encompasses prominent streets such as Zayed the First Street and Corniche Street on Abu Dhabi Island.
ITC’s vision is to create a comprehensive and intelligent public transportation system that not only supports local development across various sectors but also elevates mobility options for both residents and visitors in Abu Dhabi. The project has been meticulously planned, with a focus on safety, comfort, and quality to provide commuters with a seamless and efficient travel experience.
