Abu Dhabi Authorities Implement Ban on Certain Vehicles for Traffic Safety

Abu Dhabi authorities have announced a temporary ban on specific vehicles on major streets in the emirate on October 9.

In cooperation with the Integrated Transport Center, the Abu Dhabi Police made the announcement through their official social media platforms.

According to the statement, buses designed to transport ’50 passengers and more’ on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street, from Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Sheikh Zayed Tunnel (formerly Al-Qurram Street), will be prohibited from operating in both directions during the morning and evening peak hours of Monday, 9th October, 2023.

The ban will be enforced during morning peak hours from 6:30am to 9:00am, and during evening peak hours from 3:00pm to 7:00pm.

This measure aligns with the authority’s dedicated efforts to enhance traffic management and reduce accidents caused by certain types of vehicles.

The Abu Dhabi Police General Command has issued a directive instructing drivers to refrain from traveling during the specified periods and to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.

Furthermore, the authority emphasized that it will be intensifying road monitoring and the enforcement of regulations regarding buses transporting workers. This will be facilitated through the use of smart systems to track and identify violations.
