Tension Escalation Affects Flights Between UAE and Israel
The recent escalation of tension between Israel and Palestine has led to flight disruptions between the UAE and Israel, as confirmed by airlines to Khaleej Times.
Etihad Airways announced the cancellation of flights EY593/EY594 between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Tel Aviv (TLV) on October 8 and 9 due to the ongoing issues in Israel. The airline’s spokesperson stated that passengers affected by these cancellations are being assisted with their travel arrangements. The safety and well-being of guests and crew remain the top priority for Etihad.
Flydubai reported that flights FZ 1625/1626 and FZ 1807/1808 on October 7 were cancelled. However, flights to Ben Gurion Airport are currently operating according to schedule as of October 8. The airline’s spokesperson mentioned that they will continue to closely monitor the situation and adjust their schedule accordingly.
In contrast, Emirates, which operates three daily flights to Tel Aviv, stated that their flights are currently operating as per schedule.
Several major airlines from around the world have cancelled flights to Tel Aviv over the weekend. Airlines including Air France, Lufthansa, Ryanair, Aegan Airlines, and some US carriers have temporarily suspended flights to the city.
However, commercial air links with Eilat, Israel’s second international airport and a popular tourist destination on the Red Sea, have not been affected.
Lufthansa, in response to the current security situation in Tel Aviv, maintained a single flight back to Frankfurt. All other Lufthansa flights to and from Tel Aviv for that Saturday were cancelled.
Air France announced the suspension of Tel Aviv flights for an indefinite period starting a day prior.
Transavia, the low-cost carrier under the Air France-KLM group, also cancelled a flight from Paris to Tel Aviv on Saturday evening.
Additionally, Air India cancelled two flights – one from New Delhi to Tel Aviv and another from Tel Aviv to New Delhi – as reported by ANI.
