Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi celebrates athletes and strengthens UAE’s global jiu-jitsu reputation at the prestigious awards ceremony

His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan honored the outstanding athletes at the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Awards 2024, held after the successful completion of the 16th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
Over 9,000 participants from 137 countries participated in the 11-day event, which was held in Mubadala Arena. Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, sponsored the event.

In his address, His Highness Sheikh Zayed extended heartfelt congratulations to the award winners, emphasizing the significance of the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Awards in promoting the sport and recognizing the achievements of its champions on the global stage. He highlighted that the awards not only honor individual excellence but also strengthen Abu Dhabi’s status as a global hub for jiu-jitsu, attracting talent from around the world. His Highness wished the winners continued success and excellence, both locally and internationally.

His Excellence President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Federation, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi expressed his sincere gratitude to the UAE’s leadership, especially His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s president, and His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for their unwavering support of jiu-jitsu. Through the teaching of fundamental characteristics like patience, endurance, and resilience, Alhashmi underlined that the leadership’s unwavering support has contributed to the integration of jiu-jitsu into UAE society.

Furthermore, His Excellency thanked Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for attending the ceremony and personally honoring the winners. He stated that the presence of the Crown Prince symbolized the leadership’s commitment to supporting sports and athletes, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as the world’s capital of jiu-jitsu.

The 2024 Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Awards ceremony, organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, celebrated the achievements of winners in 22 categories. These included the top athletes in the sport, as well as outstanding local and international institutions and academies. The event also recognized key partners who have supported the federation’s mission to promote and advance jiu-jitsu globally, further solidifying the UAE’s reputation on the international sports scene.
