UAE: Workers Win Cars, Tickets, and Phones in Eid Al Fitr Celebrations

Thousands of workers honored with prizes, entertainment, and giveaways in UAE Eid celebrations

UAE celebrates Eid Al Fitr with grand festivities for workers, offering cars, flight tickets, and more

The UAE made 2017 Eid Al Fitr unforgettable for thousands of workers by hosting special events to recognize their contributions to the country’s progress.
Among the highlights was a grand prize draw in which Rubel Ahmed Samsad Ali, a 24-year-old Bangladeshi painter, won a brand-new Nissan Sunny, transforming his vacation into a life-changing experience.

Rubel, who has been working in the UAE for three years at Globe Building Contracting LLC, was overwhelmed with joy when his name was announced. “I couldn’t believe my luck. I rushed to hug the officials on stage,” he told Khaleej Times. Despite earning a set salary of Dh800 plus overtime to achieve Dh1,500, he now intends to sell the car to build a house and help his mother in Bangladesh. He celebrated his victory simply with his housemates, spending Dh200 on a little party to share his joy.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) coordinated the big events in collaboration with different federal and local government agencies. Over 100,000 workers attended events in ten different sites across the UAE. These celebrations included social and recreational activities such as sports, entertainment, competitions, and valued giveaways like e-scooters, mobile phones, and airline tickets.

The event took place at Musaffah and Al Mafraq in Abu Dhabi, Jebel Ali in Dubai, Al Sajaa in Sharjah, Al Jurf in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, RAKIZ in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hail Industrial in Fujairah, and the Dulsco Labour Village. Prizes were also presented to workers in appreciation of their dedication and hard work.

Officials from MOHRE and partner organizations joined workers in Eid prayers at the event venues, exchanging happy greetings and reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to workers’ welfare. The celebrations, which took place from 12pm to 6pm on the first and second days of Eid, aimed to enhance the happiness, quality of life and well-being of workers, acknowledging their vital role in the country’s continued progress.
