UAE to Celebrate Diwali in Dubai on November 16 with Grand Festivities
Dubai [UAE], November 14: The UAE is gearing up to celebrate Diwali on Saturday, with a spectacular event taking place in Dubai. The event will be attended by guests including Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Ambassador of India to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir as well as a large number of diplomats and dignitaries from the Indian community.
Organized by “Emirates Love India” with the participation of the UAE Government Media Office and Dubai Police, the Diwali celebration showcases the harmony and diversity of Indian folklore, culture and art, the UAE Government Media Office said. A press release.
Reflecting the close historical ties between the UAE and India, the event featured various activities highlighting India’s rich heritage and the contributions of the Indian community to the UAE’s sustainable development,” the media office said.
The Diwali celebration at Zabeel Park is expected to attract 40,000 people and showcase the diversity of Indian culture through a vibrant array of cultural, artistic, musical and folk activities, including a special segment honoring the outstanding achievements of Indians in the UAE.
Notably, UAE-India relations are rooted in a long history of close cooperation, exemplified by the bilateral cultural agreement signed in January 1975 during the historic visit of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to India in January 2017 marked a turning point in bilateral relations, culminating in a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement and 13 other agreements and MoUs.
Additionally, a comprehensive economic partnership agreement signed between the two countries is expected to boost investments and trade flows, paving the way for bilateral non-oil trade to reach $100 billion by 2030.
The UAE and India have maintained these strong ties through 14 meetings of the CEPA Joint Committee and three Strategic Dialogues.
The large Indian community in the UAE grows as a harmonious part of its diverse society, contributing significantly to deepening economic, social and cultural ties between the two countries.
