UAE Condemns Israel’s Violation of Golan Heights Security Zone
The UAE strongly condemned the seizure of the security zone of the Golan Heights by Israeli forces, stressing the country’s commitment to the unity, independence and territorial integrity of Syria.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the seizure was a violation of international law, particularly the 1974 agreement between Israel and Syria signed by both parties.
The ministry also stressed that the UAE rejects these practices, which threaten further tension and conflict in the region and hinder efforts to achieve peace and stability.The UAE remains committed to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)-led Syrian militant factions began a massive onslaught in northern Syria on November 27. They then advanced south through areas controlled by the government and took Damascus in 12 days.
On Sunday, the attack overthrew the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. After it, Al-Assad resigned and fled to Russia.
Israeli airplanes targeted Syrian navy boats in the port of Latakia, military warehouses along the coast, the southwestern province of Quneitra, and military and security bases in and around Damascus on Sunday and Monday.
Additionally, according to Syrian and Israeli reports, Israeli forces seized control of border territories on Monday and moved inside the demilitarized buffer zone created by the 1974 ceasefire agreement.
