UAE Forms Board of Trustees for Erth Zayed Philanthropies to Uphold Humanitarian Legacy

On November 9, 2024, President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates issued Federal Decree Number 42, officially forming the Board of Trustees for Erth Zayed Philanthropies. The foundation, which was established earlier in the same year through Federal Decree Number 126, operates under the patronage of President Mohamed bin Zayed. It is affiliated with the Presidential Court and is an independent legal entity tasked with overseeing various humanitarian initiatives. The foundation’s primary mission is to advance global humanitarian causes and fulfill its responsibilities in fostering sustainable development and charitable work both within the UAE and internationally.

The newly formed Board of Trustees will be chaired by Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes Affairs, as well as Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. The Board’s members include prominent UAE leaders, such as Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Zaayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Founder’s Office; and Ahmed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the President’s Office for Strategic Affairs and Abu Dhabi Executive Office.

Other key members include Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui, Minister of Community Development, and Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs, among others. The establishment of this Board demonstrates the UAE’s ongoing dedication to strengthening its position in international philanthropic and humanitarian endeavors.

UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the country, led by President Mohamed bin Zayed, is committed to enhancing future humanitarian efforts and promoting a giving culture. He stated his conviction that the Board of Trustees will be essential to the UAE’s larger philanthropic environment, supporting the country’s goals of using group efforts to address global issues.

In his statement, Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized that Erth Zayed Philanthropies represents the UAE’s continued commitment to upholding the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the country’s Founding Father. Sheikh Zayed’s lasting aim to encourage the development of friendly and brotherly nations, as well as to promote sustainable development goals and create cohesive communities, is still reflected in the foundation’s activity.

The foundation will focus on ensuring the longevity of Sheikh Zayed’s humanitarian legacy, with well-planned global initiatives and programs designed to maximize the foundation’s impact and increase the reach of its humanitarian aid. Through these efforts, Erth Zayed Philanthropies aims to contribute significantly to the global community by providing critical support to those in need, thereby furthering the UAE’s role as a global leader in philanthropy and development
