UAE President Backs Syrian Peace Amid Escalating Conflict in Aleppo
Abu Dhabi: UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke by phone with President Bashar al-Assad to discuss the situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
Nahyan, who declared his full support for Syria, promised all support to ensure peace in the country and end terrorism. Nahyan also informed the Syrian president that the UAE is committed to this.
The conflict between the rebels and the army has become extremely intense in Syria, which has been gripped by civil unrest for years. The death toll in the conflict has exceeded 200 so far.
Civilians, including civilians, have been killed in the conflict. The armed rebellion is being led by the Turkish armed group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Clashes have been taking place between the army and armed groups in the northwestern province of Idbil for many days.
Several rebels captured Aleppo city yesterday. This is the first time rebels have entered Aleppo city.
They have also reportedly taken control of several areas near Aleppo city.
Several towns and villages in Idlib and Aleppo are now under rebel control.
