UAE President Declares 2025 as the Year of Community to Strengthen Social Bonds
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has declared 2025 as the Year of Community in the UAE. The goal of this nationwide initiative is to strengthen family and community ties by preserving cultural traditions, promoting intergenerational relationships, and establishing an inclusive environment that fosters a sense of cooperation and belonging.
The Year of the Community will be celebrated with the theme “Hand in Hand” which reflects the UAE leadership’s vision of a united and empowered society. The initiative calls on all UAE residents to actively participate in community service, volunteering and meaningful projects, thereby helping to foster a culture of shared responsibility and common progress.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed underscored the significance of this project in an announcement on X, encouraging everyone to contribute to the nation’s growth. “We shall collaborate to enhance social links and promote inclusive, sustainable growth for everybody. I urge all UAE residents to think big and act bravely to develop our neighborhoods and contribute to our country’s success,” he said.
The initiative will help individuals, families and organizations reach their full potential by developing skills, nurturing talent and supporting innovation in various fields, including entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence and other national goals. It aims to promote sustainable, inclusive growth and have a beneficial impact on the future of the UAE.
The Year of Community will be overseen by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Her Highness Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairperson of the Presidential Court for National Projects.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, also remarked on the plan, saying, “The declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community is consistent with our vision for the future. “A strong community, where people care about one another, is the foundation of our country’s strength and prosperity.”
Throughout 2025, a variety of events and projects will be organized to promote social cohesion, uphold Emirati values, and urge the community to actively participate in the nation’s progress. The program asks people and residents to offer ideas that promote community development and highlight the UAE’s rich cultural diversity, all with the goal of creating a strong, flourishing nation.
