EAM S. Jaishankar to Visit UAE for Bilateral Talks and Raisina Middle East Conference
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from January 27 to 29 to meet the UAE leadership, review bilateral relations and attend the Raisina Middle East Conference.
The UAE is India’s key strategic partner and energy supplier in West Asia, with over three million Indian expatriates making up the largest Indian diaspora outside India. Both countries are members of the I2U2 alliance, which also includes Israel and the US.
The Ministry of External Affairs announced the visit on Monday, saying Jaishankar will meet UAE officials to assess the strong bilateral partnership and propose measures to further strengthen ties.
A key highlight of the visit will be his participation in Raisina Middle East, a conclave scheduled for January 28-29 in Abu Dhabi, organized by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the UAE’s Foreign Ministry, and the Observer Research Foundation. Jaishankar will deliver the keynote address at the event’s inaugural session.
According to the ministry, the visit will serve as a platform to enhance strategic collaboration and give fresh impetus to India-UAE relations.
In 2023-24, trade between the two countries amounted to $83.65 billion. The UAE ranks as India’s third-largest trading partner and second-largest export destination, with exports valued at $35.62 billion. Meanwhile, India stands as the UAE’s second-largest trade partner, with imports exceeding $48 billion during the same period.
