UAE President and Albanian Prime Minister Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Tirana, Albania, February 23: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, and Edi Rama, the prime minister of Albania, discussed strengthening their bilateral ties and extending their collaboration in important areas such as commerce, technology, food security, renewable energy, and the economy.

Senior Conversations in Tirana
As part of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s working visit to Albania, Edi Rama welcomed the UAE President and reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the United Arab Emirates during the meeting in Tirana. Opportunities for expansion and expanding strategic partnership were investigated by both leaders.

Prioritize stability, peace, and diplomatic solutions.
During the discussions, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan underlined the UAE’s commitment to global peace and regional stability, as well as its continuous efforts to promote diplomatic conflict resolution. He highlighted the UAE’s commitment to peace and security in the Balkan region and its support for dialogue-based conflict resolution in order to foster sustainable growth and prosperity on a global scale.

Significant Progress in Albania-United Arab Emirates Trade and Energy Collaboration
The remarkable growth of the UAE-Albania partnership, especially in areas that promote economic progress, was hailed by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. He pointed out that non-oil commerce between the United Arab Emirates and Albania grew by 129.4% compared to 2024.

In keeping with their same sustainability objectives, both countries have also entered into encouraging partnerships in clean and renewable energy. In order to facilitate the shift to a more sustainable future, the president of the United Arab Emirates underlined his country’s desire to increase collaboration in the clean energy industry.

Signings of Significant Agreements to Promote Infrastructure and Energy Development
A significant framework agreement was exchanged between the prime minister of Albania and the president of the United Arab Emirates as part of their commitment to enhancing economic and scientific cooperation. This contract includes:

This framework sets the stage for enhancing collaboration on renewable energy projects and developing energy infrastructure, in line with the tripartite strategic partnership framework signed by the UAE, Albania, and Italy. Enhancing energy security, hastening the transition to renewable energy, and promoting sustainable development in the Mediterranean region are the objectives of the program.

Collaboration between Technology and Smart City Development
A letter of engagement between Presight AI and the Albanian Ministry of Interior for the construction of the Albania Smart City Project was also exchanged between the UAE and Albania. The goals of this project are to modernize public spaces, improve infrastructure, and use cutting-edge technological solutions for urban growth.

The exchange was facilitated by Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, alongside Albanian officials Belinda Balluku, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, and Ervin Hoxha, Minister of Interior.

Ceremonial Welcome and High-Level Delegation
Upon arrival in Tirana, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was welcomed at the Palace of Brigades, where the national anthems of both nations were played, and an honor guard was assembled in his honor.

Prime Minister Edi Rama threw a banquet for the UAE President and his delegation to celebrate the visit.
