He stressed the significance of the Lunar Gateway Project, positioning humanity to return to the Moon and establish it as a base for future missions to Mars.
UAE’s Contribution: The UAE’s involvement in the Lunar Gateway Project encompasses the development of the Crew and Science Airlock module, a critical element ensuring astronaut safety. This module serves as the entry and exit point for missions and astronauts traveling between the Lunar Gateway Station and the Moon’s surface.
Project Phases: The Airlock’s development will progress through five key stages: planning, design, qualification, flight preparation, and operations. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) will manage and operate the Airlock, ensuring its effectiveness as part of the Lunar Gateway.
Artemis Mission: The UAE’s participation aligns with NASA’s Artemis mission, focused on returning humans to the Moon and establishing sustainable lunar missions. The Lunar Gateway Station, a central component of Artemis, represents humanity’s first space station orbiting the Moon.
